Tesla Motors joins Open Source movement

On June 12, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors and also known as the co-founder of PayPal, SpaceX and SolarCity, announced in a statement the elimination of all patents on electric vehicle technology developed by his company.

In the note published on the Tesla Motors blog, Elon Musk comments on how his view of patents has changed since the creation of his first company, Zip2, to the present day, and how eliminating them is a commitment to accelerating the development of sustainable transport and strengthening Tesla Motors' position as a benchmark company in the sector.

Tesla Motors is an American company based in Silicon Valley that is firmly committed to electric vehicles. With more than 6,000 employees and listed on NASDAQ, the company became known for producing the Tesla Roadster, the first 100% electric sports car, followed by the Tesla Model S, a luxury sedan that confidently competes with the high-end models of the most popular brands.
